- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream

Instructions
- Bake the Cakes:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans.
- For Red Velvet Cake: In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder. In another bowl, whisk together oil, buttermilk, eggs, vanilla, vinegar, and red food coloring. Combine wet and dry ingredients until smooth. Pour into one prepared pan.
- For Green Velvet Cake: Repeat the steps using green food coloring and pour into the second prepared pan.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely before assembly.
- Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling:
- In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla; mix well.
- Slowly pour in heavy whipping cream, beating until the mixture thickens and forms soft peaks.
- Assemble the Trifle:
- In a trifle dish, start by adding a layer of red velvet cake pieces.
- Add a layer of cream cheese filling.
- Follow with a layer of green velvet cake.
- Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of cream cheese filling.
- Decorate:
- Top with red and green sprinkles or edible glitter to enhance the festive appearance.
Notes
- Ensure the cakes are completely cooled before assembling to prevent the cream cheese filling from melting.
- For added flavor, you can brush the cake layers with a simple syrup mixed with vanilla or almond extract.
- The trifle can be made a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator, which often enhances the flavors.
