Description
A delicious tart made with caramelized bananas and flaky puff pastry.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
- 3 ripe bananas
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Honey or maple syrup (optional for drizzling)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a tart pan with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Bananas: Slice the bananas evenly and set aside.
- Caramelize the Sugar: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the sugar, stirring constantly, until it dissolves and turns a light golden brown. Carefully add the vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt, then remove from heat.
- Assemble the Tart: Roll out the puff pastry to fit your tart pan. Pour the caramel sauce into the pan, spreading it evenly. Arrange the banana slices over the caramel in a single layer.
- Egg Wash and Bake: Beat the egg and lightly brush it over the edges of the puff pastry. Place the tart in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden and puffed.
- Cool and Serve: Let the tart cool slightly before serving. Optionally, drizzle with honey or maple syrup for extra sweetness.
Notes
- Ensure the puff pastry is cold when you start to keep it flaky.
- Use overripe bananas for a sweeter taste.
- If the caramel hardens quickly, gently reheat it on low until it softens.
- Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delightful dessert.
