Description

These spicy grilled shrimp tacos are bursting with flavor and perfect for a quick meal!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 avocado, diced
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • ¼ cup red onion, finely chopped
  • ¼ cup cilantro, chopped
  • ¼ cup sour cream or crema
  • hot sauce, as desired (optional)
  • lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Make the Marinade: In a bowl, mix olive oil, lime juice, minced garlic, chili powder, paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  2. Marinate the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the marinade and toss to coat thoroughly. Let it marinate for at least 15-30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  3. Prepare the Grill: Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
  4. Grill the Shrimp: Place the marinated shrimp onto skewers for easier handling. Grill the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they are opaque and cooked through.
  5. Prepare the Toppings: Combine chopped tomato, red onion, and cilantro in a small bowl. Mix sour cream or crema with a splash of lime juice in another small bowl.
  6. Assemble the Tacos: Warm the corn tortillas on the grill for about 1 minute per side. Fill each tortilla with grilled shrimp, then top with diced avocado, tomato mixture, and a drizzle of the lime crema. Add hot sauce if desired.
  7. Serve: Garnish with additional cilantro and serve with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

  • Variations: Add shredded cabbage for a crunchy texture or mango salsa for a sweet touch.
  • Skillet Option: If you don’t have a grill, the shrimp can be cooked in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Spicy Level: Adjust the amount of chili powder and hot sauce based on your heat preference.
