Description

Delicious savory pastries filled with a mixture of ground beef or sausage, cheddar cheese, and crumbled bacon.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sheets puff pastry sheets
  • 1 pound ground beef or sausage
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten for egg wash

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cook the Filling: In a skillet, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic; sauté until translucent. Add ground beef or sausage and cook until browned. Drain excess fat. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.
  3. Prepare Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into squares (about 4×4 inches).
  4. Assemble Pastries: Place a spoonful of meat filling in the center of each pastry square. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the meat. Fold each square to form a triangle, enclosing the filling. Press the edges to seal and crimp with a fork.
  5. Add Toppings: Brush the top of each pastry with beaten egg. Sprinkle additional cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon on top.
  6. Bake: Place pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffy.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow pastries to cool on a wire rack for a few minutes. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Ensure the filling is cool before placing it on the pastry to prevent the pastry from becoming soggy.
  • Experiment with different types of cheese or add spices for extra flavor.
  • Use store-bought puff pastry for convenience, but ensure it is thawed properly before use.
  • If you prefer crispy bacon, cook it in the oven or a skillet until crumbly.
