Description

A deliciously creamy pie with a rich salted caramel flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 packet (about 3.4 ounces) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 cup caramel sauce (from above)
  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • Extra caramel sauce for drizzling
  • Crushed graham crackers for garnish

Instructions

  1. Make the Caramel Sauce: Heat sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until it melts into an amber-colored liquid. Add the butter and stir until fully melted. Slowly pour in the cream while stirring. Allow to boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat and stir in the sea salt. Let it cool.
  2. Prepare the Crust: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted butter in a bowl. Press the mixture into a 9-inch pie pan. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Let it cool.
  3. Make the Filling: Whisk the pudding mix and milk until thickened. Stir in the cooled caramel sauce. Pour the filling into the prepared crust. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours until set.
  4. Prepare the Topping: Whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Spread or pipe the whipped cream over the chilled pie.
  5. Assemble the Pie: Drizzle extra caramel sauce over the whipped cream. Garnish with crushed graham crackers.

Notes

  • Ensure the caramel sauce is completely cooled before mixing with the pudding to avoid melting issues.
  • For a firmer crust, freeze it for 10 minutes after baking and cooling.
  • Adjust the amount of salt in the caramel to suit your taste preferences.
  • Ensure your bowl and beater are chilled for the best results when whipping cream.
