Instructions
- Peel and slice the onion into 1/2 inch thick rings, separating them gently.
- In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, paprika, and black pepper.
- In another bowl, whisk together egg and milk until smooth.
- Combine the wet and dry mixtures into a thick batter.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Dip each onion ring in the batter, let excess drip off, and carefully lower into the oil.
- Fry in batches, turning once, until golden brown (about 2-3 minutes per side).
- Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
