Description
Delicious golden seared scallops cooked to perfection and infused with butter, garlic, and lemon.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound large sea scallops
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 lemon, juiced
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Scallops: Rinse the scallops under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Ensure they are completely dry to achieve a good sear. Season both sides of the scallops with salt and black pepper.
- Heat the Pan: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it’s hot and shimmering.
- Sear the Scallops: Add the scallops to the skillet in a single layer, ensuring they are not overcrowded. This helps them cook evenly. Sear the scallops for about 2-3 minutes on the first side without moving them, until a golden-brown crust forms. Flip the scallops and sear the other side for another 2-3 minutes.
- Add Butter and Garlic: Reduce the heat to medium and add the butter to the pan. Once the butter has melted, add the minced garlic and lemon juice. Spoon the butter and garlic mixture over the scallops to infuse them with flavor.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the scallops from the pan and place them on a serving platter. Drizzle any remaining pan sauce over the scallops. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
- Ensure the scallops are dry before searing for the best crust.
- Avoid overcrowding the pan to achieve even cooking.
- Use fresh scallops for optimal flavor.
- Adjust seasoning to personal preference before serving.
