Description

Delicious Chinese sesame balls with a chewy texture and rich filling.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups Glutinous Rice Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Fine Salt
  • 1 cup Boiling Water
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 cup Sweetened Red Bean Paste
  • 1 cup Raw White Sesame Seeds
  • 4 cups Vegetable Oil

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine glutinous rice flour and fine salt.
  2. In a heatproof cup, dissolve granulated sugar in boiling water.
  3. Gradually mix the hot sugar water into the flour mixture.
  4. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 2 minutes.
  5. Portion out tablespoon-sized pieces of dough, fill with sweetened red bean paste, and seal the edges.
  6. Roll each filled ball in raw white sesame seeds.
  7. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F and fry the Jian Dui in batches for about 6 minutes.
  8. Once fried, drain on a wire rack and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Ensure the water is boiling hot for the best results.
  • You can substitute granulated sugar with coconut sugar or maple syrup if desired.
