Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners.
- Prepare the Berries: In a bowl, mix berries with 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar. Set aside.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together melted butter, sugar, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Combine Ingredients: Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix. Gently fold in the sugared berries.
- Prepare Crumble Topping: In a small bowl, mix 1/4 cup flour and brown sugar. Add cold butter cubes and mix with a fork until crumbly.
- Fill Muffin Cups: Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups. Sprinkle crumble topping generously over each muffin.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool: Allow muffins to cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Use fresh berries for the best flavor; frozen can be used if thawed and drained.
- For a nutty twist, add chopped pecans or walnuts to the crumble topping.
- Ensure ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing results.
